Confident Communicators 66-Day Challenge!
The Faculty Operations & Experience Team is excited to announce the upcoming Confident Communicators 66-Day Challenge! Running throughout the Spring term (beginning Monday, April 17), this fun and friendly competition will not only bring your Vertical together but will also help improve your communication skills, build confidence, and provide ideas to incorporate into our courses.
Why 66 days? According to James Clear, author of New York Times best seller Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, the range to build a new behavior is 18-254 days with a good number being a consistent 66-days. As we are working on encouraging confident communication behaviors, 66 days was the best choice for this event.
By participating in this challenge, you’ll not only gain valuable communication skills but also the opportunity to bond with your vertical colleagues. Additionally, you’ll come away with new discussion prompts, live session activity ideas, assignment preparation session exercises, and more to use in your own courses.
To join in starting 4/17, click TAKE ME TO THE CHALLENGE! (If needed, request access after logging in!). Simply post your response to the challenge each day to earn your credit and work towards propelling your vertical up the leaderboard.
The competition is highlighted by daily prompts that will take around 5 minutes to complete, which will help you check off boxes (bingo-card style) to earn points. Each faculty member’s contributions helps boost the vertical numbers!

What to Expect as a Participant
The program has three distinct steps — a launch event, a midway check-in, and a capstone panel discussion — and requires a three-month commitment from mentors and mentees. During that three-month period, mentors and mentees will participate in a minimum of nine connects, including:
- 3 Large Group Connects
- 6 1:1 connects between mentee/mentor
That time will be used to create a learning agenda and meet the growth and development goals for both individuals.
Once you have submitted your registration, program team members will match mentees to mentors according to what each expressed as their reason for participating and the goals they hope to achieve based on their participation.
Then, the pair will meet, establish guiding principles and goals for their time together, and determine their regular meeting schedule. At the end of the three-month period, mentees will prepare a capstone panel discussion, which they will share with their mentoring cohort sharing their experience, how the conversations with their mentor helped them grow, and ways in which they intend to take that learning forward in their work.
